Susan Ee book signing!

On Thursday I attended a book signing with Susan Ee at Waterstone’s Picadilly! It was a great event. I was a little annoyed that it started like 45 minutes late(!!), but once it finally got started, the event was well done. I loved the interview/Q&A! I thought all the questions were really interesting and Susan herself seemed so genuine. She really did get Penryn’s name from a road sign!

Overall, Susan seems super down to earth and really smart. πŸ™‚

Thank you, readers!

On Thursday I published my first “real life rant” post called, I don’t know what to do after I graduate college! (Love, jobs & visas) I was nervous about it going live, but nothing prepared me for the responses! I thought maybe a few people would read it, and I might get a couple comments.. but I was floored by the 63 comments (some of which were my replies) and the overwhelming support from my fellow bloggers! Hearing from all of you was so encouraging and gave me ALL THE WARM FUZZIES!!!

Thank you guys! You made my day week month!

  1. Ooooh I’m so jealous you got to meet Susan Ee! I bet it was amazing. I was really sad when I heard that I would miss that by a couple weeks, with my London trip. And then when I was in the Waterstones at Piccadilly they had signs everywhere announcing the event, and I felt very teased xD But yay that you got to go! πŸ™‚

    1. I didn’t take notes but I think I remember most of it!

Q: Where did you get the idea for Angelfall?
A: I thought it was interesting how we always think of angels as sweet and “wish granters” and “guardian angels”, but more of the angel lore is about warriors and I wanted to delve into that idea.

Q: How do you say Raffe’s name?
      A: Rah-fee

Q: Why is Angelfall set in Silicon Valley?
A: I wanted to explore the contrast between modern day technology (what humans do best) and old angel warriors.

Q: How did you think of Penryn’s name?
A: I literally saw it on a road sign and thought, “I can’t wait to use that name in a book!”

Q: How much research did you do?
A: A lot. Most of it comes from the book of revelations. But angel lore is so varied and contradicting that I had a lot of room for creative freedom.

Q: Do you have a writing schedule?
A: I’ve tried every schedule imaginable and I can’t stick with one. So if I have a schedule at all, it would be that I’m constantly mixing things up.

Q: Was it easier or harder to write book 2?
A: A lot harder because I had so many peoples’ voices in my mind. I had readers who wanted x, y, z to happen and were constantly telling me so. I had to push everyone’s thoughts and ideas and hopes out of my mind and just let the story come out as it was meant to be.

Q: What advice do you have for aspiring authors?
      A: Try free writing.

    1. ANGELFALL IS AMAAAAAAAAZING!!!

I didn’t like World After as much (*sob*), but Angelfall is so good O_O

  2. OMG YOU MET SUSAN EE. I CAN’T. I CAN’T. I JUST. CAN’T.

ALSO OOOH SCANDAL!! I’m DYING to read that one. Even if I haven’t had the best luck with her books lol
