Seattle, 1913 // Dorothy is trapped. Forced into an engagement to a wealthy man just so she and her mother can live comfortably for the rest of their days, she’ll do anything to escape. Including sneaking away from her wedding and bolting into the woods to disappear.

New Seattle, 2077 // Ash is on a mission. Rescue the professor—his mentor who figured out the secret to time travel—so together they can put things right in their devastated city. But searching for one man means endless jumps through time with no guarantee of success.

When Dorothy collides with Ash, she sees it as her chance to start fresh—she’ll stow away in his plane and begin a new life wherever they land. Then she wakes up in a future that’s been ripped apart by earthquakes and floods; where vicious gangs rule the submerged city streets and a small group of intrepid travelers from across time are fighting against the odds to return things to normal. What Dorothy doesn’t know is that she could hold the key to unraveling the past—and her arrival may spell Ash’s ultimate destruction.

I’m weird about time travel books. I thought I didn’t like them, but now I’m thinking I do. The time travel book I read before Stolen Time was Invictus, which I adored! Now I read Stolen Time and loved this too!

I think the cool thing about Stolen Time was how the two main characters were from different time periods. One is from the future (sort of), which is kind of post-natural-disaster. The other is from our past (1913). Having the two characters come together like this was interesting.

The other thing I really liked about Stolen Time was how sciencey it was. I think maybe I’m drawn to time travel in a science setting and not a “magic” setting. There are also some big environmental parts of Stolen Time and it almost becomes the focus of the book. And quite frankly, given our crazy our environment has been lately it was easy to imagine the disasters in 2077 as being our real future.

The ending though… THE ENDING! I was at 94% on my Kindle and shit was getting INTENSE! This huge epic bomb was dropped and we were starting to get into the mindfuckery that is time travel and I was like OMG OMG OMG I CAN’T WAIT TO KEEP GOING! HOW IS THIS SHIT GOING TO RESOLVE! ……and then it ended. Turns out there were a bunch of ads and copyright information in the back of the book that was counting towards the percentage. Ugh! I was so upset because I thought there was more and all I wanted to do was keep reading. It’s a crazy cliffhanger and it kind of drives me nuts but also means I’m absolutely 100% going to read the second book when it comes out!

Anyway, Stolen Time was great fun and a quick read. It’s loaded with some interesting characters, mindfuckery, and overall a cool story. I definitely recommend it!
