A Perfect Wedding in Florence, Italy

So, as I’m sure all of you know, Coding God and I had our wedding ceremony last weekend! …IN FLORENCE! It was absolutely incredible and I can’t wait to share a few pictures with you all. πŸ™‚

First, I Graduated!

First thing first: I graduated from university! My ceremony was at 10:30am on Wednesday, July 16th. The ceremony was pretty cool. I remember looking forward to it ever since I started university because I read that we graduate inside the Canterbury Cathedral! It’s such a gorgeous setting.

Flying to Florence

Right after the ceremony (literally) we ran back to our hotel and got a car to the London City Airport. The ceremony ended at 12:00pm and we had a 3:30 flight to catch to Florence!!

On the plane to Florence

Florence was a hot 90-ish degrees and absolutely stunning!

The Venue

This was the first time we’d actually seen the venue in person.. it was incredible! We were at the Villa San Michele hotel, which sits up on a hill overlooking the city of Florence. We had this incredible sweeping view of the city.. simply breathtaking.

The bar at Villa San Michele

Here’s a shot of the bar area, which was right on the edge of the hill with a spectacular view. I loved the architecture in this room! We actually had dinner in this bar area on Wednesday night.

Food

I’m sure it will come as no surprise when I say that the food was INCREDIBLE! We had five spectacular dinners with family and friends. Wednesday had the fewest people—only about 18-20 people or so. But every night we had more and more guests and the dinners got even more spectacular! I probably gained like 3lbs in the four nights before the wedding. I CONSUMED ALL THE CARBS!!

I’m really bummed that I didn’t take more dinner photos. I think I was just having way too much fun to be taking pictures! But every night the tables were set so beautifully and the food itself was INCREDIBLE.

Getting Ready for the Wedding

At last, the wedding day arrived on Sunday the 20th!

All the wedding prep was done in my mom’s hotel room at the Villa San Michele. I had my first ever manicure and then we had a team of stylists to do hair and makeup.

At the Ceremony

The ceremony itself was PERFECT! Sadly I don’t have many photos but I know I’m going to have some SPECTACULAR ones once I get the photos from our official photographer (not for a few more weeks I think). The ceremony was held in the lemon gardens, which had an incredible sweeping view of Florence. Then after the ceremony, we went down to the main garden (which you can see in the Villa San Michele photo) for cocktails and dinner.

When my dad made his toast he even referred to my husband as ‘Coding God’! Hahahaha!

And when we got back to our hotel room, there was a surprise waiting for us!

Candles, flower petals, champagne! All the staff members at the hotel were so friendly and helpful. We even found two ‘Congratulations’ cards in our rooms from the two staff members who helped us out the most.

Overall, the entire five days we spent in Florence was nothing short of perfect. I actually find myself wondering if it was all just a dream because HOW COULD ANYTHING BE SO AMAZING??? I feel so lucky to have had the best wedding in the universe. It’s better than any movie, book, or imagination could have come up with. And I’m so grateful to my parents for doing basically everything! It wouldn’t have been half as amazing if not for them. πŸ™‚
