Free, Feminine, Flowery WordPress Theme Up for Grabs!

Ingrid: free, flowery, responsive WordPress theme for WordPress

Anna and I have been working on this free theme, Ingrid, for months.

We had to change our plans a little (explained below), but we’re so thrilled to be able to offer it to you today for free!

Let’s talk about this long ass process.

We finished it very quickly because Anna already had the bulk of the design done. It just needed some tweaking and coding. Then we commissioned a custom illustration from the lovely and talented Jaymie O’Callaghan. Things were looking good.

Three months ago, in June, we submitted it to the repository.

They requested a few minor changes and we got them done. Eventually we were told it was approved.

And yet it’s still not in the repository.

I asked a few follow up questions, they weren’t answered, the ticket was closed, the ticket was reopened… And now I don’t know what the status is.

I don’t want to bash the theme review team because they’re volunteers and I do think they’re going through some big changes in their process right now. But I can’t help but compare the theme review process to the plugin review process. I have two plugins in the repository now; one took an hour to get approved and the other took like one or two days. Compare that to three effing months with this theme.

Long story short, Anna and I have gotten impatient. So we decided to just release it as a free download on our blogs. We’re still hoping it’ll make it into the repository, but we’re not holding our breath with that process.

Meet Ingrid!

Ingrid - a flowery one-column WordPress theme

Ingrid is a gorgeous one-column theme for feminine bloggers.

  • The overall design was done by Anna Moore.
  • The coding was done by me.
  • The gorgeous flower illustrations were created by Jaymie O’Callaghan.
  • A few Customizer options.

Ingrid is designed to work seamlessly right out of the box with no effort on your part. But there are a few Customizer options so you can change things up.

Ingrid also supports the standard custom header and background options so you can customize those as well.

I have a self hosted blog but for some reason the upload of the file is not working, i clicked on it in the upload theme and it will not allow me to click the choose button. Is there a file/folder I have to click within the ingrid folder or is it something else? Thank you so much for the free design!
