New Books

I’m psyched for Five Ways to Fall! I adore K.A. Tucker’s books. Sadly, I already read Depth of Field and didn’t like hit. 🙁 And huge thanks to Bloomsbury for sending me The Bone Season! It feels like this book is eeeeverywhere.

Exercising!

So my #1 problem with exercising is that I feel like I never see any improvements. No matter how much I exercise or how fast/slow I run, I can’t seem to push myself to run for more than 10 minutes. This always discourages me, so then I go to the gym less because I’m like, “What’s the point?” So it’s time for Plan B!

I’ve decided to jump into Couch to 5K. I’m not quite at the “couch” stage, but I’m jumping into week 3, hoping to build up to being able to run for 30 minutes straight. THIS WILL HAPPEN!!

Tell me about your week!

  1. It’s so pretty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (No, I’m totally not obsessed with my new layout. Nope. Definitely not.) 😀 Also, exercsing. Ergh. Although, I do Blogilates and that’s kind of fun because the instructor is great.

    1. Hehehehe 😀

I’ve heard a lot about Blogilates. It’s kind of a cool concept.

    1. Thank you!

That is a very good point. I haven’t really tried any strength training but I’m sure it would be beneficial!

  2. I am forever envious of your coding ability. You are so talented 🙂 And for the Couch-to -5k YOU GOT THIS! Have you tried listening to audiobooks while you run? I run quite regularly and I got tired of listening to the same music all of the time so I started listening to audiobooks and if it’s a really good book it takes my mind off of running. Also – if your problem is running past 10 minutes, run 10 minutes away from your starting point so you have to run 10 minutes to get back!

    1. My problem is that when I do that, I can make it back.. I just walk back instead of run XD Like, I can quite comfortably walk/run for 45 minutes, but of that time I can only run for about 10 of them.

I haven’t tried audiobooks primarily because they’re so expensive!! 🙁 I’ve been wanting to try though.

    1. That’s really encouraging, thanks Grace!! And huge congratulations on losing 14 lbs — that’s great!

I keep hearing amazing things about The Bone Season.

  3. That’s a really cute blog design!! I’ve been doing the Book Blog Walkers to keep me motivated to exercise & it has really helped. I tried running and was able to do 2 miles but then would stop, not from being tired but from being bored. I didn’t get that “runners high” that people talk about and I just don’t like running lol. I still run but I mix it with walks, speed walking and other exercise. Good luck with the exercising =)

    1. Thank you!

Bummer about the boredom. 🙁 Maybe you’d do better if you were on a treadmill and watched TV or something while doing it? I actually brought my Kindle to the gym once LOL!

  4. I love the Couch to 5k program! I’ve never been a runner and it was he first time I actually tried to run. I walk every day (pretty much) and now I throw in running (well jogging) intervals. Since starting the C25K program I’ve done 3 5Ks and have at least 2 more on my calendar for this year. Its changed the way I work out because I’m less focused on weight lost and more focused on improving my 5k time. I’ve already brought it down from 1 hour 10 minutes to 45 minutes – and that’s just since January. Good luck – I hope its as great for you as it has been for me!

    1. Wow congratulations on doing three 5Ks! That’s so awesome!! Very inspiring. 🙂

  5. Aww, sorry you didn’t like Depth of Field! I read The Rule of Thirds and didn’t even know there was a second book until this post! I honestly don’t think it’s really necessary and might skip it since I wasn’t in love with The Rule of Thirds.

And good luck with Couch to 5K. I’m thinking of doing it as well! I don’t really like running but the program makes it seem all right for me! 🙂

  6. Good luck with Couch to 5K! I did that and it worked and believe me I was DYING that first week even though I think you run in 1 minute increments or something lol

My next tough point was the 8 minute one – I struggled but then I made it and eventually did a Color Run 5K.

I ended up with a back injury so I couldn’t keep up with it but because of that I’m able to last through a workout now so I still consider it a success and hope to get back to it when the weather is cooler.

    1. Sorry about the back injury! 🙁

I jumped in at week 3 and it’s going okay for me, but I know I will start struggling when it gets up to somewhere in the 8-12 minute range x_x eeks

  7. I can’t run. I wish I could run but it hurts my knees and I get cramps easily. I was a dancer for 12 years but for some reason running has always been hard for me.

  8. I just added Ten Tiny Breathes to my wishlist TBR jar. I’ve heard good things. The Blogmonster is adorable. I really like the design. Good luck with your couch to 5k goals! I don’t like exercising because it is such a time suck. I am a big multi-tasker and I feel like I’m accomplishing less when I’m only working on one thing.

  9. I’ve actually been using the Zombie Run app a couple times a week, it’s super fun but the past couple times I haven’t really been feeling good like halfway through :/ I finished Orphan Train this week, it took me a couple months because I put it away for a bit to do some ARC reviews.
