Review to Goodreads

UBB Add-On: Review to Goodreads

I’ve finally released my ‘Review to Goodreads’ UBB add-on. This plugin allows you to connect to Goodreads through your blog, then automatically send review to Goodreads. All you have to do is edit a post, fill in the Goodreads URL, type up your review as normal, then check the box to “Send to Goodreads”. Then save your post and it will automatically get published on Goodreads, along with your rating! Snaaaazzy.

Note: Currently the plugin only allows one connection per site. So if you have 3 co-bloggers, you can’t all set up a separate Goodreads connection. You can only have one. I’m hoping to make it compatible with multiple bloggers in the future, but it’s not available yet.

Couch to 5K

Tuesday (week 5, day 1)

I KICKED MAJOR ASS!!! God, it felt so good. If you remember, last week I was feeling discouraged. I really failed on that final Friday workout, so I was nervous about ramping things up this week. Then I didn’t go to the gym on Monday because I wasn’t feeling well. But on Tuesday… HOT DAMN!

The workout was straightforward: 5 minute warm up, 5 minute run, 3 minute walk, 5 minute run, 3 minute walk, 5 minute run, 4 minute cool down. And I was just like:

  • BAM I’m running like a pro
  • I DON’T EVEN NEED TO STOP!
  • I’m so ready to get moving again
  • I may be breaking a sweat but I CAN STILL KEEP MOVING!

I felt like some kind of epic ninja warrior. I think my new running playlist really helped a lot. Two songs in particular really helped me keep my ass moving:

Mr Mysterious

Baracuda

Thursday (week 5, day 2)

Today wasn’t a bad day by any means. I got through the workout (two runs, each for 8 minutes) without much difficulty. I think the thing I was missing from Tuesday was that epic runner’s high. I think it was partly because I wasn’t in a great mood to begin with, and then after a while someone got on the treadmill next to me and she was running at 7 but I was only on 5.6. It made me feel bad about myself. 🙁 I know it’s not a competition, but it’s still hard to not compare.

Today (week 5, day 3)

I don’t normally go to the gym on weekends, for fear of it being busy (how stupid is that?). But since I skipped Monday, I should be going to the gym today… hopefully I make it there!

Interview

I was interviewed by Freya over at the Freado blog if you want to check it out!

    1. HTML formatting is kept but paragraph and <br> tags are stripped out (since Goodreads does that automatically). And UBB spoiler tags are converted into <spoiler> tags so that they work properly on GR. 🙂

  1. *blushes* Thank you for the kind words Ashley! It was so much fun working with you. I could go on and on about my experience but I have a post going up on Wednesday about my experience.

The GoodReads plugin has been such a time saver! Worth so much more to me than the money I paid. Thanks for your continued awesomeness. 🙂 Congratulations on your Couch to 5K goals this week. Exercising can be such a downer when it doesn’t seem to be working. A great week like the one you just had can make all the difference. Good luck this week!

  2. OMG Vanessa Amorosi! I haven’t heard her in aaages! Love seeing how your C25K is going! I’m starting mine (C210k though) on the weekend with a friend…very nervewracking. I’ve been complying a playlist too, and I’m finding that a lot of film scores are actually quite motivating (How To Train Your Dragon for one!)

The UBB plug on looks really interesting too! I’ve always been so lazy about cross posting, so this looks right up my alley!

    1. Ohh good luck with C210K! I think I might continue on to 10K after I finish 5K. 🙂

  3. AHHH CHARLOTTE. I love it SO much!! I always wanted a design similar to your old one (mainly the way the page layout looked, with the borders between posts/sidebar and sidebar/background, the menu, and the social icons right at the top. I’m so excited about it! When will it be for sale?!

Also, REVIEW TO GOODREADS YOU’RE FREAKING BRILLIANT. That is one part of blogging I’ve always hated and tend to skip because I forget about it! So buying that immediately 😀

    1. I’m so glad you’re excited for it! I’m hoping to put it up for sale soon. I was kind of hoping that people would mess around with the demo and give me feedback before I put it for sale, but that hasn’t really happened yet XD So I think I just need some time to give it a final once over or something, then maybe it will be ready.

      1. I went in and looked at some of the stuff, but I didn’t want to completely change everything around! Unless that’s okay? I would definitely like to see what I could make my site look like but I didn’t want to change your main style of the theme in case anyone else looked at it >.<

        1. Yeah you can change whatever you want! Upload your own graphics or do whatever you want. 😛
